Volunteers and Gray Martin
Photograph of the volunteers and Gray Martin. Photo was taken June 10, 1998. These are the volunteers who have contributed greatly in the maintenance and collection of data for the avocado breeding program. Left to right: Frank James, Julie Frink, Dickson Shafer, Geroge Brown, and Isabel Barkman with researcher Gray Martin (who recruited them).

Volunteers: In early 1993, a group of volunteers was recruited from a local chapter of the California Rare Fruit Growers Organization to assist Gray Martin in his work at the South Coast Research and Extension Center. Most of the data in the variety list came from information gathered by the volunteers.
