Minimum Maturity Standard based on Percent Dry Matter
Here are the minimum percent dry matter standard that various avocado varieties must reach before they can be commercially harvested and sold to the public.

Date/Size Maturity Releases
- There was a strong industry interest in the establishment of harvest dates by size and variety.
- Studies have determined that by testing avocados at selected sites at predetermined intervals from early in the season, predictions can be made at what date the dry matter levels will reach minimum maturity.
- Industry leaders felt that Date/Size maturity releases would allow avocados to move in a uniform manner
- Allows industry to plan marketing programs in advance to support the predicted movement
- Avocados can still be harvested before the release dates, but they will be tested for minimum maturity standard.
